I first tried Esoteric Yoga several years ago. Initially, I was unsure that I was really ‘getting it’ and during those early years, I struggled with the practice. My mind just would not stay present in the body. It wanted to busy itself pre-planning what I would do later in the day or tomorrow or next week. Better yet, my mind loved hashing over things that had happened the day before, thinking of all the clever things I ‘should have’ said.
But, with practice, I began to experience the union of my mind with my body, and had my first real experience of conscious presence. Over the years, I had heard a lot of different references to conscious presence but never knew exactly what it meant until I experienced it in Esoteric Yoga. When the mind is focused on or aligned to what the body is experiencing, this is conscious presence.

Of all the wonder-full quotes from A.A. Milne’s ‘Winnie-the-Pooh’ books, this one is perhaps my favourite. Although I will admit that for most of my life I didn’t truly ‘get’ the wisdom that was being offered to us. It seemed silly, and yet wasn’t funny. It also seemed non-sensical. and I’ve always been in favour of making sense, so this little quote just didn’t do it for me. However, now it makes perfect sense and it makes me laugh no matter how many times I see it. What’s the difference? Well…
I joined a writing group at the beginning of the year. We banded together to support each other in becoming more active writers. We have a team of dynamic leaders who do internet research, come up with topics that we discuss together and swap editing and proof reading tasks. I was keeping pace until we hit the suggested topic of ‘women.’ Now being a woman, you wouldn’t think that this would necessarily be a daunting topic. Yet, I found it so.
